Torus is an innovative company in the field of energy storage recognized by TIME magazine. Founded in 2021 in South Salt Lake, Utah (USA), it now has a team of 100 employees helping utilities, businesses, and data centers address energy challenges and to become self-sufficient energy providers, fostering a more sustainable future.
From Inspired For Tube No. 30
The target
To make communities more energy-independent, it was necessary to connect homes, businesses, and the power grid into a single ecosystem. The climate crisis has made this transition more urgent, and Torus has developed energy storage systems capable of providing decades of sustainable energy storage.
The increase in demand has required faster design cycles and the insourcing of production processes.
The solution
The flexibility of the LT7 laser system for tubes and profiles, combined with the capabilities offered by the ArTube programming software for designing joints and geometries to be cut on tubes, has enabled the company to respond quickly to market challenges.
Furthermore, this design flexibility ensures that the aesthetic appeal of the final product—which end customers consider essential—is not overlooked. A single Lasertube machine can produce 8 megawatts of batteries per day, and Torus now aims to exceed 70 megawatts of production.
LT7
Equipped with a 3D cutting head, the LT7 cuts tubes and profiles weighing up to 23 kg/m and with diameters ranging from 12 to 152.4 mm. The machine can be loaded with various cross-sections and is equipped with universal supports that automatically adapt to the type of workpiece, making production changeovers quick and easy.
Our first design iteration was fully functional within three weeks, and we were able to use all of ArTube’s features to understand the potential of the Lasertube system right from the start.
