MAP S.p.A. is a Milan-based company specializing in the construction of metal structures for residential buildings and industrial complexes, active in the design and installation of façade cladding in steel, wood, and various other materials.

The target

To win the contract for the construction of the large roof of a shopping mall, MAP S.p.A. needed a system that could efficiently and extremely precisely produce around 3,500 tubular elements, all different from one another, capable of fitting together to form a wavy steel-and-glass surface of over 107,000 sq ft (≈2.47 acres).

The solution

Thanks to LT14, a laser cutting system for large tubes and profiles, MAP S.p.A. was able to program each single structural element and send it into production extremely efficiently.

Thanks to LT14, it was able to produce single-piece batches in a highly flexible way. Each piece was manufactured with extreme precision and marked with all necessary indications to simplify and speed up assembly, reducing the margin of error, all on a single machine.

LT14
LT14 is the Lasertube system for large tubes and profiles that allows 3D laser cutting of tubes up to 355 mm in diameter and weighing up to 100 kg/m. The ability to perform cuts, notches, as well as threading and marking enables LT14 to produce large batches or single pieces with extreme flexibility and precision, already ready to be assembled on site.
