Redefining the limits of tube bending

October 14, 2025 - 9.48 AM

In the video below, you can see the extreme bending of a stainless-steel tube with a diameter of 139.7 mm and a thickness of 2 mm, bent with a center-line radius of 120 mm. This part has a bend with a Difficulty Ratio of 81 (DR=81) – considered to be theoretically impossible.

The process is carried out with an ELECT150 tube bending machine.

To push beyond the limits imposed of today’s technology, knowledge and experience must not only guide but also seamlessly integrate with the technological process. Only in this way can results once deemed impossible be achieved.

The creation of this part has been made possible by:

  • Superior know-how in the design of bending tools for special applications
  • Total control of material behavior during the process, made possible by additional functionalities that are essential to prevent defects or breakages in the tube under such extreme conditions
  • latest-generation all-electric technology, fully utilized in a simpleand effective way through the VGPNext tube bending programming software, which allows precise calibration of the force and movement of each tooling component

This application significantly expands the technological feasibility of tube bending and offers greater freedom to design, opening new opportunities across many industries such as furniture, industrial vehicles and industrial systems.
